February Fitness Challenge

Starting February 1st, 2017 Sports West Personal Training challenges you to try new exercises, (see exercise list below ) and you'll get a chance to win prizes, including deals on massages or facials at Spa of the West, personal training sessions, Jungle Gym classes and more! See one of our trainers and/or fitness staff to get started!

 February 1 - 28, 2017

Exercises

  • Attend a Functional Fitness Class (See Schedule for times)
  • Attend a Group Fitness Class of your choosing
  • Ask a fitness coach to measure your body fat percentage.
  • Walk on Woodway® treadmill for 5 min.
  • Do 2 sets of 10 reps on the assisted pull-up machine
  • Do 2 sets of 10 reps TRX® hip thrusts
  • Do 2 sets of 20 reps Resisted Side Steps
  • Do a ‘tightrope’ walk in the Jungle Gym area
  • Do 2 sets of 20 second wall sits with arms overhead
  • Do 2 sets of 15 reps overhead medicine ball slams
  • Complete 10 minutes of foam rolling
  • Attend a Pilates Demo Class (1st and 3rd Saturdays @ 11 AM)
  • Do Kettlebell Farmer’s Walk - 4 lengths of Space Station mat.
  • Do 3 sets of 30 reps TRX® lateral lunge
  • Do 2 sets ea. (l/r) of 15 reps small step up ankle cuff/cord adduction
  • Do 2 sets ea. (l/r) of 15 reps small step up ankle cuff/cord abduction
  • Do 2 sets ea. (l/r) of 15 reps small step up ankle cuff/cord hip flexion
  • Do 2 sets ea. (l/r) of 15 reps small step-up ankle cuff/cord hip extension
  • Do 2 sets ea. (l/r) of 15 reps pallof hold side steps
  • Complete 200 vertical feet on the Versa Climber®
  • Complete any Reno/Tahoe Senior Winter Games event

Indoor Cycling News

New Class!

The latest addition to Sports West Cycling's classes is Cycle Yoga Fusion, Wednesdays 5:30 - 7:30 PM with Lori.
Get the best of Yoga & Cycling in one class! This class will combine a 60-minute segment of intense riding, then off to the Aerobics Room for a restorative, relaxing yoga session.

A nice way to improve flixibility and enhance your fitness by stretching and relaxing after a great cardio workout!

Row-n-Ride

If you haven't tried it yet, be sure to check out Sports West Personal Trainer and Cycling Instructor Kyle Spector's Row -N- Ride classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 AM.

Row -N- Ride incorporates our new, cutting-edge MATRIX® IC7MX... bikes with our brand new Matrix® rowers for a full-body, hard-core workout! If you're looking for a new challenge that will push your fitness to the next level, this is for you, come check it out!

ACTIVE AGING 101 Social Hour!

Be sure to join us!

Sports West is always striving to offer you the best health club experience. Join us for the Active Aging 101 Social Hour on the fourth Thursday of each month at 11 AM to learn about all the great programs that Sports West has to offer our seniors and special populations. Our Functional Fitness coaches will be in the lobby with muffins and fruit for you to enjoy. They'll also have handouts and schedules to inform you all about our exciting programs for our active aging members. We'll be happy to answer your questions!

If you miss this one, no worries! Sports West's Active Aging Social Hour will take place on the 4th Thursday of each month at 11 AM.
